While working as a professional graphic designer and teaching scuba diving where I photographed small aquatic animals like corals, sponges, invertebrates, and the underwater terrain, I fell in love with minute textures and patterns. Now land-based, I photograph nature’s flora and geographical formations. After taking up clay in 2005, I began to carve and impress the qualities I found in marine life, plant life, and various terrains into my work. My functional and decorative ceramics are obsessively ornate and colorful. My process of clay and glaze decorating, an evolution of trial and error which took me years of experimentation to develop, finally satisfies me even as it continues to evolve.
