Jack Stoddart's fine art photographs are
attracting attention on a national level. His work is in the permanent
collection of several museums including The Morris Museum of Art
in Augusta, GA; The Knoxville Museum of Art in Knoxville, TN;
the Akwesasne Museum in Hogansburg, NY; Gumtree Museum of Art
in Tupelo, MS; Cheekwood Museum of Art in Nashville, TN; and The
Museums at Hartwick in Oneonta, NY. He is the focus of a local
PBS documentary detailing his thirty-year career photographing
life on the Cumberland Plateau. This full length documentary is
scheduled to air this fall in Tennessee. The September issue of
the Tennessee Magazine will feature an article and cover story.
In keeping with a life dedicated to the chronicling of vanishing
cultures, his next collection will portray working boats and fishermen
from Key West to Nova Scotia and beyond. It remains his choice,
creating imagery that transcends décor. Remaining true to the
silver gelatin film process with dedication to open tray printmaking
sets him apart in a digital age. He produces his art pieces without
manipulation, relying instead on many years of dedication to his
craft.
Starting in 2003, Jack and his family have maintained a contemporary
craft gallery on his farm with over twenty five national artists
working in blown glass, clay, and wood to metal sculpture in addition
to Jack's revolving display of photographs. You can visit Jack's
gallery and studio in Overton County throughout the year by appointment.
