Welcome!
This is the official website of the Art 'Round Tennessee
organization. A 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization dedicated to the Arts in our Community. Our inspired beginning came from the Art Prowl Studio Tour, a tradition in the Upper Cumberland/Putnam County area of Tennessee since the year 1999.

WCTE Great Auction & ART Prowl Artists!

If you've ever bid on a locally made piece of art during WCTE's Great TV Auction and wished you knew more about the artist who created it, you'll want to attend the upcoming gallery exhibits and receptions at the Cumberland Art Society and West Textures Framing & Fine Art. Many of the artists contributing work to this year's public television fund-raiser will be on hand - along with the work to be auctioned. This is your chance to see the art in person, in many cases meet the person who made it, and talk with the artists about their process and materials.

If you want to attend both events, start at the Cumberland Art Society's Backdoor Gallery from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, May 21. The gallery is located at 186 S. Walnut Ave. Then move on to West Textures, where ART Prowl 2009 contributors will be onhand from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 21. Located at 24 W. Broad St., West Textures is a major sponsor of the ART Prowl, a tour of artist studios and galleries held every fall in downtown Cookeville. WCTE's signature fund-raising event features "art boards" every night of the eight-day event, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 28-Sunday, May 31, and Thursday, June 4-Sunday, June 7.

Art board contributors and sponsors this year are the Appalachian Center for Craft, ART Prowl and Off the Beaten Path studio tours, Cookeville Arts Council, Cumberland Art Society, and Upper Cumberland Arts Alliance. At the end of the art receptions, bidders who have pledged 100 percent - or more - of an item's value automatically win the piece, which still will be featured during the televised auction, but not shown for sale.

ART Prowl artists contributing to this year's Great TV auction include Laura Clemons, Angelo Fernandez, Laurie Hall, Marilee Hall, Wayne Hogan, Joel Holmes, Merritt Ireland, Lisa Manus, Damon MacNaught, Paul Miktarian, Cella Neapolitan, Bill Robison, Breanna Rockstad-Kincaid, Adele Seitzinger and Debi Wichman. Several art patrons, including Olivia Hutchison, are contributing pieces from their private collections.

ART Prowl 2009, an affiliated activity of the non-profit group Art 'Round Tennessee, is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, Nov. 13-14, in the WestSide district of Cookeville, as well as locations near the Courthouse Square.
